Job title                                        Mechanical Quality Engineer

Solartron Metrology is looking for a Mechanical Quality Engineer to join the Quality Team at our Bognor Regis Head Office.

 

Solartron Metrology Ltd is a leading, fast paced UK manufacturer of digital measurement systems.

The candidate will be required to undertake Quality related tasks to enable the smooth running of the Factory and provide customers with product which meets their needs.  They must be a motivated professional with a methodical approach to their work. This person must have effective communication skills and be personable and must be a motivated professional with a methodical approach to their work.

Experience and Qualifications

  • BSc Honours in Mechanical Engineering
  • 2 Years’ experience within Manufacturing
  • Experience in Process Capability Studies

 

Key duties will be as follows:

 

  • Leading Machine Shop Project Teams including new machinery
  • Point of Contact for Mechanical Issues
  • Complete full Inspection Reports on Mechanical parts from Machine Shop
  • Investigation and resolution of Product and Process problems related to Internal Mechanical issues
  • Process and systems auditing
  • Quality and Process Improvements through active involvement in build process aimed at preventing problems.
  • Analysis of manufacturing data
  • Quality planning, development of best practice and standards.
  • Development of monitoring and measurement methods including SPC to aid Yield and Scrap.
  • Technical / Engineering support to Quality for Internal Mechanical Issues
  • Support Product and Process validation with Manufacturing Engineers and Design Engineers.
  • Manage the Scrap Process for the Machine Shop

    You will also be expected to

  • To keep up to date with relevant legislation and Ametek operating procedures
  • To attend appropriate training as required
  • Maintain all appropriate records
  • Manage ad hoc projects as required
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with your colleagues.

Main Purpose

 

Working in the Development Engineering Department responsible for new and existing Firmware applications for our custom products.

 

Duties and responsibilities

Primary

 

  • Design Requirement Capture
  • Design of Real Time Embedded C firmware on an ARM platform.
  • Working with serial communications, Ethernet sockets, USB,
  • Sufficient understanding of electronics to design and debug hardware firmware interface.
  • Planning tasks and managing time
  • Communication with team members.

 

Additional advantageous skills include:

 

  • Experience with C# and C++ programming language for test programmes and customer specific programmes.
  • Experience with GIT and SmartGIT or similar change control system.
  • Enthusiastic, can do attitude.

The candidate must be a highly motivated professional with a methodical approach to their work and a proven track record. They will be responsible for engineering innovative solutions for measurement systems both internally and for customer applications, adapting with industry demands as well as supporting the existing software base. This person must have great communication skills and be personable.
